China donates COVID-19 emergency medical supplies to Rwanda.
The government of China has donated emergency medical supplies to help Rwanda in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The supplies include; protective face masks for medical use, surgical masks, disposable protective clothing, infrared thermometers, medical protective goggles, disposable sterilized rubber surgical gloves and medical isolation cover shoes.
The medical equipment were handed over by the Chinese Embassy in Rwanda and the Ministry of Health expressed gratitude towards China’s generosity and said the help came in at the right time.
“We are happy with what China is doing. With the first 30,000 test kits donated by the Alibaba Foundation owned by a Chinese national Jack Ma, we were able to plan the COVID-19 national response,” said the Minister of Health, Dr. Daniel Ngamije.
“We were able to conduct a community survey countrywide to rule out any hidden community transmission and the results were good, not a single case tested positive,” added the Minister.
Rao Hongwei the ambassador of China to Rwanda said that the donated materials show his country’s determination and solidarity with Rwanda.
“At the trying times, China relates deeply to Rwanda’s difficulties and the Chinese people stand firm with the Rwandan people as the virus knows no borders, so does love,” said Ambassador Hongwei .
The ambassador hailed Rwanda’s COVID-19 rigorous prevention and control measures.
“Since the outbreak of COVID-19, Rwanda took comprehensive prevention and control measures altering the dangerous course of the virus’ quick spread and more recoveries have been registered. These achievements deserve respect and congratulations,” commended the Ambassador.
The donation is the first of the two batches the government of China is donating to Rwanda, the second delivery will be made soon.
